Rolling Out August
We’re hanging onto summer. The long sunny days filled with lovely whites and rosés. Ahhh, and Texas peaches. Soon enough we’ll pull out our jackets and fill the decanters with brooding, contemplative reds, but until then here’s to living in the moment!
This week a year ago started a journey to Portugal for the harvest. After nearly five months making wine in both the north and south, my passion for this region was solidified. Together we will take the chance to explore one of the world’s richest historical wine regions that’s still virtually unknown. In my own study I’ve found it nearly impossible to find classes on Portugal, so I am proud to present one of few available in the U.S. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the unique wines and pictures from the harvest- you’ll be happy you did. (Tuesday, August 10, 7 pm at Whip In, 1950 South IH 35, Austin, 78704 512-442-5337 $20)
If hanging onto summer’s the plan, then we have some rosé to finish! Back by popular demand, we will be celebrating the last days of summer with rosé, rosé, rosé! Traditional dry rosés evoke images of lavender fields and Provence, so why not Texas? Let’s change it together at the Whip In, Tuesday August 24 at 7 pm. (1950 South IH 35, Austin, 78704, 512-442-5337 $15 or 2 for $20!!)
Classes at House Wine and Apothecary will be confirmed and posted within the week.
