Wine For the People is back from winter break and ready to bring you more exciting wine events in 2012! We’ll be kicking things off on Tuesday, January 24, 7 pm at Whip In, starting the year with an education of the French classics. We’ll take a look at the most well-known regions of France and learn why they continue to keep the world’s top reputation for wine. Wine For the People is honored to be co-hostomg The Silk Road: An Asian Epicurean Journey on October 15, 7 pm at the Mexican-American Cultural Center. Tuesday, October 25, 7 pm brings us back to our series at the Whip In to taste full-bodied, sexy reds from all over the globe! We’ll be welcoming the cooler temps with the big, powerful reds we’ve been missing through the summer. Come out and enjoy wines to accompany a sweater!

This is a unique experience to learn about wines from central and southern Italy that are rarely seen in the US. The Martin-Ulisse family, a Texan family with Italian roots, imports these small farmer wines, and we’ll explore them with a special guest from the importer! Next up we’ll be at Whip In, otherwise known as South Austin’s fortress of wine and beer love. Tuesday, Sept. 13 at 7 pm will be a tribute to all wines French. We’re very excited to help introduce a new venue on Austin’s near south side. Thrice Café is tucked into a cozy neighborhood street adjacent to Thai Fresh, a local, sustainably-driven Thai deli. We’re doing our best to bring wine country to you!
Here in Texas the drought and intensely high temperatures have brought an early harvest for winemakers in the region. Some of this year’s fruit was ready by early July! The classes this month will be scaled back a bit to allow for winemaking duties, but to celebrate the harvest we’ll be featuring farmer wines. From the smallest producers we’ll show how true artisinal wines taste, and how affordable they can be. We’ll be throwing in a few gems from Texas as well, so don’t miss out!
